EXPECT NOTHING & APPRECIATE EVERYTHING
On my mind today is time passing, particularly the birthdays that mark that time for each of us. Probably on my mind because I just celebrated a birthday. Not a milestone, just another year. With each passing year I seem to get more reflective and also more appreciative of how fortunate I am to be celebrating “just another year”.
Lately I have realized that one of the hardest parts of growing older is saying goodbye to certain chapters - the noise of kids echoing through the house, the hectic daily routines, friendships that change with time, and also the people we've loved who are no longer here.
The real beauty of aging is having the perspective to appreciate how rich those chapters were, and how much of that experience we carry forward. It has shaped who we are, and our presence has shaped lives in ways that will last long after we are gone.
Every birthday is a gift.
Every year is another chance to love, to laugh, and to have another adventure.
The gift of aging is simple: it means you were given time. And time is the most precious gift of all.
So cheers to just another year!
